Are you Licensed?
Yes. We are licensed contractors.
Are you Insured?
Yes. We are fully insured. We will provide you with a certificate of insurance upon request.
How many years experience do you have?
Our collective knowledge spans over three generations. The eldest being masonry, then exterior home improvements and the youngest exterior/interior remodel and design. I myself have been working within the industry since I was a boy, so I would say over 25 years of carpentry knowledge. After attending SUNY New Paltz for a degree in Fine Arts, I developed my eye for detail & design, leading me into interior spaces to really focus on being creative.
Who will be here everyday?
John Paoline, the owner, will be there everyday. Hands on. Depending on what phase the job is in, there will generally be 2-5 technicians per day. You will be introduced to each of them.
Do you provide a detailed written proposal with a payment schedule?
Yes. Upon going over all parameters and agreeing on a price, you will be provided a contract with a specific payment schedule.
Will you ask for a deposit?
If the job is large enough, I will usually ask for a small holding fee. The first payment will be after the first shipment of materials is delivered to your home. The price will be specified in the contract and is determined by material cost.
Do you guarantee your work?
Of course. 99% of our business is “By Referral Only.” We invest 100% of our time and energy to delivering first-class service to all our customers. As a result, our valued customers, suppliers and friends refer their family, friends and work associates to us for services. We’re interested in building strong life-long relationships one customer at a time. Here is a link to our Guarantee and our Why We Guarantee.
How do you determine price?
We determine price by taking discussed parameters in the consultation and figuring out materials, labor and overhead for the course of the entire job. Being a boutique company, our overhead is small and that helps to keep those costs down, which of course benefits you! When I come across a potential client who is a "professional shopper", I find that our prices are always within the middle range when compared to other contractors. This is a good place to be. It is the honest price for QUALITY work. I usually recognize names of my respected peers in the industry very close to my price, this "goldilocks" zone is where you separate the "low-ballers" and the contractor who wants to retire after finishing your project!
When can you start?
This depends on a few factors. First off, when I've completed all currently scheduled jobs. I do one job at a time, so you have my DEDICATED attention to your job throughout! If it is an exterior job, harsh weather conditions can affect timing. Also, if materials have to be ordered, ex. Kitchen Cabinets, I generally like to start when all materials are in stock, so that if they are delayed for any reason, we're not standing around waiting and wasting your time.
When will you be finished?
The time frame for the job will be discussed within the consultation. I strive to meet these self appointed dead lines as I know the more time spent remodeling is more time disrupting the normal flow of your household. I do NOT rush through my jobs by any means, but I don't take my time either. I come there to work, and my team and I do so very efficiently.
The job itself will be finished when all the parameters in the job scope of the contract are fulfilled and the final payment has been made.
What time will you knock on my door each morning?
We arrive at 8:00am ready to work. If you'd like us to come later, I'll do my best to accommodate you, however we like to get an early start.
What time will you quit for the day?
This time varies slightly. On a typical day 5:00pm. If we are in the middle of something that requires immediate attention, we will work later to make sure it is ready for us the following day as well as accomodating you, eg. working with cement, finish running water lines, etc.
How many breaks do you take a day?
We typically take one break a day, a 45 min lunch time. There are some exceptions and I believe that safety should come first. If a job is particularly laborious or weather conditions are harsh, ex. roofing in 90 degree weather, short breaks will be taken when needed.
Rest assured, we do not show up to work to dilly dally, we come with a specific agenda and goal for each day, this helps to keep us motivated and the job running on time.
Are you going to work everyday?
We will be at work every week day until the job is completed. I reserve my Saturdays for consultations and Sunday for my family. You can, however, contact me on those days for any questions/thoughts you may have regarding you job.
Who will be working on the project? Are they employees or subcontractors?
For the most part, it will be employees. On certain jobs, trusted sub-contractors will be appointed. But one thing is constant, I will always be there.
How many projects like mine have you completed in the past year?
This depends on year and job. Regardless, I will be able to show you past jobs and examples of our work.
What percentage of your business is repeat or referral business?
At this point, I would say our business is about 90% referral based. Although we are present on the internet, we do not advertise. People seek us out based on our reputation for high quality craftsmanship, knowledge and our goal for complete customer satisfaction.
What is the process throughout? How do we get started?
To get started just give us a call or fill out the form on our contact page. We will set up a free consultation and figure out the best plan for your needs and budget. After an agreed start date, we will continue planning as necessary. When we begin work, we will not stop until your job is completed.
How long will the job take?
This depend on the job scope. For a typical kitchen remodel, 10 working days. For a bathroom remodel, 5-7 working days. For a typical roof remodel, 1 day. We will let you know at the time of the consultation what to expect in terms of job length.
We understand that any remodeling job is a disruption to your daily routine and we strive to be as unobtrusive as possible.
Will you complete my job on time?
I strive to meet these self appointed dead lines as I know the more time spent remodeling is more time disrupting the normal flow of your household. I do NOT rush through my jobs by any means, but I don't take my time either. I come there to work, and my team and I do so very efficiently, we have goals for each day and plan to meet them. We arrive at your residence each morning ready to work, not to goof off.
*We do not rush through our jobs just to brag about how fast we are.*
How may jobs do you have going on at once?
One. Yours. I do not have multiple jobs going at once. You deserve 100% of my time and concentration.
Do you turn down jobs?
Yes. Some think I'm nuts, but yes I do. If after a consultation I feel we are not a suitable match, I will choose to walk away. I could recommend other peers if I feel comfortable enough. Will you know if I feel this way with you after the consultation? Absolutely, and I'm quite polite about it.
Why would you turn down someone who is willing to hire you?
Sometimes its a matter of the job scope. Sometimes it a matter of the potential client. This job is more about getting paid after slapping up some roof shingles or cabinets...I put my everything into making sure others are completely satisfied when my job is finished. I strive to build lifelong relationships with people, if there are any issues after the job is completed, I'm there to remedy it. Not because a piece of paper tells me to, it's because I care. My most loyal customers "get" me and my company and what we stand for. Some don't. I'd rather work with the people that do.
Why do you guarantee your work?
We are constantly trying to better our company and staff to help provide you with the best possible customer service. The 100% customer satisfaction guarantee is more then a promise, it's guidelines to make sure that we stay passionate for what we do, strive to be better than the rest & to keep improving upon our methods.
